Warm Fuzzies

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Sorry for the crazed "it's way past my bedtime" look
I don't know why I keep doing his to myself, but It's currently 2:15 a.m. and I haven't slept a wink. Every day I tell myself "Tonight you will go to sleep at a decent time" yet it never happens. What can I say, YouTube is so addicting! Why did I just discover this guy? I'm currently sat here on my bed all snuggled up in the warmest, coziest, outfit I have ever owned. It has been getting chillier here, and I have a feeling this place has little to none insulation. I have been wandering around the flat swaddled in my duvet trying to keep warm, and while I may have been starting a new fashion statement, it just wasn't practical. Thus the reason I could not pass up this fuzzy lounge outfit while browsing around Primark the other day. And let me tell you, in the few days I have owned it, it has been worth the ten pounds! I was really tempted to invest in a pair of slippers as well, but restrained myself even though my feet are pretty much blocks of ice. Primark has a great selection of cozy pajamas at the moment, so if you've been modeling your bedclothes like I had been, I recommend taking this approach instead. You will actually have full use of your arms and not be constantly tripping over the corners of the blanket that are dragging on the floor.

P.S. This is my 50th post! Hooray for little milestones! :D

The Ten Day You Challenge || Three Films

Finally getting close to the end of the "Ten Day You Challenge". And While it's been fun, it's just taken me ages to actually get through it! I still encourage everyone to try it out though as it's fun to do and fun to read! Today is three films, and I had such a difficult time trying to choose only three.

1. Anastasia
This is probably my absolute favorite movie of all time! It was such a big part of my childhood, and I still watch it. I had have such a crush on Dimitri. He is definitely my favorite animated man! I know this movie isn't exactly historically correct, but I am still fascinated by the Romanaov family and the mystery of Anastasia.

2. Sherlock Holmes
I have always loved detective stories and the whole idea of Sherlock Holmes. This is definitely my kind of movie. It's witty, adventurous, set in a great time period, and Jude Law is an amazing man. Overall, it's just a great movie, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

3. Return To Me
I cannot say enough good things about this film. It has something for everyone. It's romance, humor, and emotion rolled into one. I never get tired of watching it. I can't really explain it, but it's just one of those movies that makes you really feel something. If you haven't seen it, you must!

Wanting: To go to Scotland
Watching: This music video for that I had the opportunity to be a part of. Unfortunately I myself didn't actually make it in, but our sign did in the center at the very back.

Thinking About: What to do when my family comes to visit me

A WICKED Night With The Rolling Stones

I have been so busy the past couple of days! That's probably why I feel almost dead today. I really need to start getting more sleep! I made the mistake of taking a nap today, which made me even more tired as usual. I usually avoid taking naps for this reason. I had to though because I was literally falling asleep standing up. So here I am blogging, and I thought I would tell you what I've been up to this week.

On thursday I went into London with one of my flatmates for the day. It was tons of fun! We ran around seeing the sights and taking loads of pictures. Typical touristy things haha, even though she lives in England. A nice man made us bracelets while we were walking around down by the London Eye, but then of course expected us to tip him. He said since we were English that he wouldn't charge his usual price and we could pay whatever we wanted. The entire time I was thinking "Christina just keep your mouth shut an he'll never know you're American!".

We went to the Camden market, which was amazing. I get so sucked in by markets and I seriously wanted to buy everything! I'm definitely going to take my mom and sisters there when they come to visit, because they would love it! I managed to restrain myself and only buy a few things and some of them were gifts. I'm not very good at haggling, but I didn't pay the asking price for anything so I would consider that a success! I'm thinking about doing a clothing and accessories haul of the things I've purchased here so far, but I'm still on the fence about the whole haul thing. I absolutely love watching/reading them, but I still feel a little weird about doing one myself.

We ended up in the West End later on and just happened to stumble across a movie premiere! It was so exciting! We saw the crowds of people and the red carpet, so we asked one of the security guards and it was the premiere of The Rolling Stones documentary, and guess what? They were going to be there! It was everything you would imagine a movie premiere to be. There was the paparazzi section flashing like crazy every time somebody strutted their stuff on the red carpet. When a couple cars pulled up at the end of the carpet and The Rolling Stones emerged, the crowd went mental! I was being pushed from all directions because everyone was straining to get pictures an video. I didn't manage to get very good of either.

Some of the stones getting out of their cars

We left the premiere early because we had to make our way to the theater to see Wicked the musical. I have been wanting to see it for so long, and now I finally have. Just another one of the many things I've been able to cross off of my bucket list since I've been here. It was spectacular! The acting and singing was amazing. Rachel Tucker who played the role of Elphaba was a phenomenal singer. Her voice seriously gave us chills. It was so strong and powerful. I loved how the story was set so you figured out more about the characters you thought you knew. It gave a whole new perspective on the Wizard of Oz and I completely loved it! I knew all of the songs before I went because my friend let me borrow her CD once, but the actors added their own little quirks to it. Plus, they all had accents ;) It turned out to be such a great day. It was one of those days that you just think about afterwards and smile about.

Yesterday I had to go into the center of the city again for one of my classes. I'm taking a class on British life and culture, so we get to go on field trips. I was a little nervous because we had to find our own transportation for this trip and get there on our own, but I figured it out. It was my first time taking the train and the underground on my own, but I am really proud of myself for figuring it out and not getting lost! I was even able to help some other people with directions and how the underground worked. I felt so accomplished. I did have to figure out a different route than I had planned because of the huge protest that was going on. I decided to avoid it by walking the long way around it, only to end up having it blocking my way again. I managed to get to my next destination after I started to panic slightly. It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't had a certain time I had to be there to meet my class. The field trip was a tour of parliament and the globe theater, and let me just say, they were both beautiful, but especially parliament! I had already seen to globe, so I wasn't as impressed as I was with parliament. It was so detailed and decorated to beautifully. I set off the security sensor when I walked through so I was seriously patted down. I have never had to be searched like that in my life. I don't actually know what set it off, but I was wearing earrings, a watch, and a belt, even though they said I didn't need to take those things off. I was sad that we weren't allowed to take pictures inside of parliament, so I'll just have so say that it looked pretty much how it does in the movies, except more opulent.

After the tours I took the opportunity to walk around the city and see some more of the sights.

I hope everyone has been having a great week!

The Ten Day You Challenge || Four Books

I'm back with another "Ten Day You Challenge". Today is four books. This one was extremely difficult since I absolutely love to read!

1. Enthusiasm by Polly Shulman
I discovered this book around the same time that I discovered my love for Pride & Prejudice and Mr. Darcy of course. Basically it's a story about a girl whose friend becomes obsessed with Pride & prejudice and of course shenanigans and romance ensue. It is a good lighthearted book to read if you're in your early teens. I loved this book so much I think I probably checked it out from my school's library at least three times... in one year. My friend loved it as well and we still have inside jokes that came from this book.

2. The Alex Rider Series by Anthony Horowitz
I went through a spy phase when I was younger and became obsessed with Alex Rider, the teenage boy who becomes a spy. I will always remember the first time I stayed up all night. I was with my friend again and we pretty much spent the whole night talking about the series, which actually sounds really pathetic now that I think about it haha. I must admit that when the Stormbreaker movie came out we made shirts and went on opening day. We were the only ones in the theater besides an old lady and her giant bucket of popcorn.

3. The Trixie Belden Series by Julie Campbell
Both my sisters and I loved this series. We got almost the complete set of thirty-something books from my mom because they used to be hers. It's a great series full of mystery and adventure. They started reprinting the series again several years ago, so we'd always rush to Barnes & Noble to pick up a copy of one of the books we were missing when it came out.

4. The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
These are the books that are closest to my heart. Harry Potter was such a big part of my childhood and I feel like I grew up with him. I can't count how many times I've read the series, but I know it was a lot. My oldest sister was the first of my family to start reading them, and once she was hooked, she convinced me to start. She even read the entire first book to me. We all read the first four quickly because that was all that was out at the time. Every time a new book was released we were only allowed to get one copy, so we made shifts of what time during the day a certain person was allowed to read it. That's how dedicated we were ;)

It's a YMCA Kind of Day

Sometimes I just find myself in the mood to groove to all the classic old school hits. They never fail to get me pumped up, in fact, last year I would always listen to these few songs to get ready for those dreadful calculus tests. Last night I was wide awake and just felt like dancing, so I turned on the tunes and had a good ol' jam. Some of these songs make me feel seriously epic and like I can conquer the world haha. I know I just did a post with a bunch of youtube videos, and I didn't really want to do another one right after it, but I really wanted to do this post so I though eh why not?
