Have an Eggcellent Easter!

I know, I know, the title could get any more tacky, but it was the best pun I could come up with. Easter is almost here! You may have noticed already, but I pretty much love every holiday, and this year I'm loving anything involving springtime activities, because the weather has not been agreeing with me! Although, the snow is finally melting (Hooray!). Plus the easter holiday gave me an extra two days off of school. For me, Easter weekend is full of family, Easter egg hunts, dying easter eggs, and of course, food. Yesterday we dyed our eggs, and I remembered that my friends in England thought it was such a strange tradition, so I thought I would share a few pictures. We didn't dye nearly as many as we did when I was younger, but it would be really sad to drop the whole tradition altogether. However, I'm not sure if we'll keep it up next year since one of my sisters is already married and moved out, and my other sister will be doing the same come October.

Have a Happy Easter!

Dear Spring, Stop being so Bashful. Sincerely, Christina

Sigh, I'm so sick of this weather. I feel like it snows every day. And it's almost April! This shouldn't surprise me considering where I live, but I just want the snow to be gone! Easter is the time for breaking out the bright colors and pastels, but I feel kind of silly doing that when there are huge snow banks lining the streets. I remember it was sooo warm last year at this time. But hey, at least it's been sunny everyday, which has definitely lifted my spirits. Hopefully it warms up at least a little for Easter because I'm really looking forward to it!

The Luck of the Irish

Some of the food we feasted upon. I thought I took pictures of the rest, but
apparently not
Just a  few of the shoes
To say that St. Patrick's day is a big deal in my town would be an understatement. Mostly everyone who lives here is of Irish heritage and my high school mascot was a leprechaun. Real intimidating right? Needless to say, everyone goes all out with the decorations and dressing up in anything green with clovers on it (and incorporates every other Irish stereotype) for the big parade that happens the saturday before March 17. Over the last several years we have started up a little tradition at my house where my parents cook traditional Irish food, my dad throws on some Irish tunes, and my relatives slowly pile into our house after the parade. You may have noticed the pattern of how we love to get together and eat haha ;) My house isn't the smallest, but it certainly feels that way with half of my relatives crammed into every room. I want to go back to Ireland so much!

I hope you all are having a great St. Patrick's day!

Crazy for Bows!

Heeellllooo! I'm on spring break right now and man does it feel good! Well of course this being me I'm talking about, I'm not completely worry-free, but at least I don't have classes to go to this week! I've been in a particularly crafty mood since I've been home and have been wanting to try THIS tutorial for ages. I'm rather obsessed with bows. If something as a bow in it, I'm sold! Polka dots and bows are my weaknesses. Ooo just imagine a polka-dotted bow! The hot glue gun is definitely my crafting weapon of choice, so I had a lot o fun making these. This project is very inexpensive, but was completely free for me because I had all of the supplies laying around my house. So if you are going to try this I'd suggest checking if you already have some of the supplies. I don't really need many of these bows because really, how often can you wear them without getting too excessive? Honestly though I just have the urge to go on a crazy bow-making spree! I'm thinking of possibly gifting them to people, but I'm not sure if they'll actually wear them. I did however already make one for my sister. The only way I've worn these bows so far is with my hair half-up with the bow clipped at the back of my head. I'm not sure if I'll be more adventurous and try any other ways yet, we'll see. I'll see if I can get a picture up showing how I wear them (in my newly chopped off hair...7 inches eeek!) even though I'm sure most know what I'm talking about since this trend has been going around for a while now. Oh, and one last thing. I would recommend using fabric that is of a sturdier variety because I tried it with some floppy fabric and it did not work! :)

Stressed To The Max!

It's midterms this week and I am struggling to keep up with all of the studying and assignments to that need to be done. Yesterday I was coping just fine with the endless amounts of homework, but today it's all starting to catch up with me. After all the nice weather we've been having (and by nice I mean just warm enough for the snow to start melting) I was very disappointed to see that it was practically a blizzard outside when I woke up. Trudging all the way across campus through snowdrifts while the snow pelts you in the face at what feels like a million miles per hour is not a good way to start off an early morning. Needless to say, I wore the wrong shoes and was slipping and sliding on all of the ice patches hidden under the snow, causing me to twist my ankle. It is now extremely swollen. My classes have been really stressful and I hate it when I don't understand the material we're learning, especially when I'm just about to be tested on it. I'm not a crier, I'll admit that I shed the occasional tear during emotional movies or t.v. shows, but when it comes to my personal life, I hardly ever cry. My mom thinks it's strange, and I tell her she should be happy that I have nothing to cry about. That being said, this entire morning I just felt like I was going to burst into tears at any moment. However, being a pretty positive person, I've decided to try to focus on the good things I have. I know I shouldn't really even be complaining since I know there are many people that struggle with so many other things. Basically I'm writing this post for myself. I think it will be good for me to organize the positives.

1. I am extremely lucky to be getting an education.

2. Easter is almost here. Meaning spring, sunshine, pastels, candy, and family!
3. Good friends that lift my spirits when I'm down.
4. Painting my nails a bright pastel blue has definitely helped improve my mood. Plus, it's lasted a few days without chipping. WIN!

5. Midterms mean that the semester is half over.
6. Spring break is just around the corner! So excited for a week at home with minimal amounts of school work.
7. It was definitely a good idea to order myself a "birthday" cake from the dining center.

Composing this list has actually made me feel better, so now it's time to put my game face on and get down to business!
